The Rally has improved and, over these nine years of competitions in the Baía de Todos os Santos, has become more technical. In this particular edition, the route was changed, with an even more challenging and more distant course. And it also counted with the experience of the rally champion Lourival Roldan as part of the technical commission. This year, 40 competitors between boats and jets competed in the categories General, Bahia and Aventura, and were qualified those who obtained the lowest number of lost points. The Rally is a nautical regularity race, as opposed to a speed race.
Organized by Bahia Marina and Yacht Club da Bahia, the Nautical Rally opened the program of the Nautical Festival on Saturday (02/12), promoted by the City of Salvador, through the Salvador Tourism Company (Saltur).
Starting at 10:01 am from Bahia Marina, competitors departed each following a map, a spreadsheet and a GPS device on a route with more stretches in a straight line and a higher average speed. After completing the initial route, the teams traveled for approximately one hour until they arrived at Bimbarras Island – the designated place where boats could anchor for a pit stop.
Bimbarras Island
One of the distinctions of this 9th edition of the Nautical Rally of Bahia was the pit stop in Bimbarras Island, a new tourist attraction of the Baía de Todos os Santos and – for the first time – part of the course of the Nautical Rally. The contestants were welcomed in the paradisiac island to the sound of DJ Barbie, and were able to enjoy a unique scenario, in a moment of resting to recharge their batteries in order to continue the race.
The awards ceremony started at 4:00 pm at the Yacht Club da Bahia and it was a great celebration among team members, who took advantage of every minute of the party, with musical attractions Maria Te Viu band and singer Danniel Vieira.
