One of the most important international nautical events, World Arc sailing rally, reaches Salvador after leaving Caribbean and pass through South Atlantic. The 38 and 62-feet boats from 15 different countries were received at Bahia Marina and got moored at the place, chosen to host the award ceremony. The event happened yesterday (02/09) at Café do Forte restaurant. The competitors are going to spend Carnival in Bahia and then they are going to a cruise through the Brazilian coast.
The international race World ARC happens every year, including several kinds of boats with a number of sailors that varies between 6 and 12, for a total of 100 people who are directly involved in the event.
The teams started the sailing in January 2016 and finished it in April 2017, with arrival and return in Santa Lúcia Caribbean island. The route went through Colombia, crossed Panama Canal, Galápagos archipelagos and Pacific islands, including Marquesas, Sociedade, Tonga, Fiji and Vanuatu islands. After crossing the Great Barrier Reef, the rally visited Lombok, crossed the Indian Ocean, stopped in Chistman Island, Cocos Keeling and Maurícias, right to South Africa to celebrate Christmas and New Year.

On the award night, Bahia Marina Director Leilane Loureiro, Bahia Port Authorities and Arnaldo Pimenta da Cunha Neto (sailor from Bahia) were honored.
