It is already proven that the people of Bahia know how to party, but when it is performed on an island with an area of 2 million square meters, located in the municipality of São Francisco do Conde and its sole access is by boat, it takes an extra dose of expertise. And that’s how the 4th edition of Flotilha Day happened on Saturday February 16 – an event organized by association Flotilha Lanchas da Bahia, for the second time in the paradisiacal Bimbarras Island. approximately 1,000 people attended the pre-Carnival event, with lots of sunshine, calm and crystalline waters to lower the temperature above 30 degrees, and concerts by Jau, Parangolé, Forró do Tico and DJ Old Boys.
Created in an unassuming way, as a group of friends gathered together on WhatsApp, and now having its headquarters at Bahia Marina, the Flotilha has now 190 members, all boat owners, who come breaking barriers and filling gaps in the nautical world, through the promotion of workshops , meetings and events, among them the Flotilha Day.
The event, which gathers adepts of the nautical world, is one of the largest nautical events in Bahia.
According to Darlan Ribeiro, president of the Flotilha, this edition of Flotilha Day brought recognition to the event by three factors: “It was a public success, with all the tickets sold out; the place, which is always open to us, with its exclusivity and natural beauty; and the increase in the number of partners and sponsors, proving the credibility we have conquered over the years.”
Present at the event, the mayor of São Francisco do Conde, Evandro Almeida and the city’s public service secretary Amarildo Guedes, highlighted the importance of events such as these for tourism in the region. “We need events of this size to leverage our tourism not only of São Francisco do Conde, but Madre de Deus and all the region,” highlighted the mayor. “The Flotilha Day put our municipality on the nautical calendar of Bahia. Congratulations to the organizers for the high quality event, ” added the secretary.
Also present at the event were the vice mayor of São Francisco do Conde, Nem do Caipe and
Secretary of Education, Marivaldo Amaral, as well as the president of the Salvador City Council Geraldo Júnior.
Owner of Bimbarras Island, businessman Reynaldo Loureiro, head of the holding company that manages Bahia Marina, opened the exclusive Bimbarras Island for the event, based on his trust in and the credibility of the Flotilha Lanchas da Bahia. “Bimbarras has more than eight kilometers of sea coast, in two million square meters, and the party happened at the entrance of the island. Our goal is to preserve and disseminate our next initiative, the island’s real estate project Bimbarras Beach Site, with lots of 20 to 70 thousand square meters, which will be built on the opposite end the island.”
